Warning Description: Coastal Flood Advisory, Areal Flood Watch
Warning Date: 4:48 PM EST on March 13, 2010
WarningSum:...Coastal Flood Advisory In Effect Until 8 Pm Est This Evening...
Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal
Flood Advisory...which is in effect until 8 PM EST this evening.
The complex storm system currently affecting the region will
continue to do so through the weekend. Low pressure just off the
Delmarva coast will drift slowly northeast to a position off the
New Jersey coast Sunday. This low pressure system will bring
moderate to heavy rain and a general east to northeast flow. The
winds and rain coupled with a new moon on Monday will bring
higher than normal tides to the region. At this time...minor
tidal flooding is occurring around the upper Chesapeake Bay.
High tide occurs between 5:00 and 7:00 PM this evening on the
upper Chesapeake Bay.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
326 PM EST Sat Mar 13 2010
...Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...
The Flood Watch continues for
* portions of Delaware...northeast Maryland...New Jersey and
Pennsylvania...including the following areas...in Delaware...

and Talbot. In New Jersey...Atlantic...Atlantic coastal Cape

Warren and western Monmouth. In Pennsylvania...Berks...Bucks...
Carbon...Chester...Delaware...Lehigh...Monroe...Montgomery...
Northampton and Philadelphia.
* Through Sunday morning
* periods of rain will occur across the area into Sunday morning.
The heaviest rain is anticipated through tonight.
* Widespread total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are
anticipated with this storm, with locally heavier amounts in
New Jersey possible.
Bands of heavy rain have affected, and will continue to affect the
Flood Watch area tonight. These bands will lift slowly from south
to north and exit northern New Jersey and Pennsylvania tonight.
Given this amount of rain, the potential exists for areas of
dangerous flooding to develop and continue over the next couple
of days. Several flood warnings and advisories are currently in
effect, and more are expected through Sunday. Smaller streams will
respond first to the rainfall followed by the larger rivers. In
addition, these rainfall amounts will cause areas of flooding on
roadways and poor drainage.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
